    NOMINATED FOR 11 ACADEMY AWARDS

    A timeless story of enduring friendship and the lengths one woman is willing to go for another. These two grow up as close as sisters. Jane Fonda gives a stirring performance as a young, and maybe naive optomist. We are transported to Germany as the Nazis rise to power. Vanessa Redgrave is leading the resistance. Lots of tension. So happy to add this movie to my collection! Joan

    A film that stayed in my memory for decades

    No a universal appeal, but a deep and moving story with great characters portrayed by good actors. The film is about strong female characters in an extraordinary time. Based on a portion of Lillian Hellman's book: Pentimento. Even if you do not like Hellman herself, there is no doubt that she is one of our finest playwrights/
