The only B-36 sound track.....Ever!!!
A wonderful history of the B-36 bomber named the "Peacemaker" True to it's name, the bomber was never in war, as the Cold War nations knew that the bomber was able to drop an atomic bomb on them, anywhere in the world. As one was in the air over them 24 hours a day, even the enemy became peaceful. Strategic Air Command has the only recording of the distinctive sound the six pusher props and its' four jet motors, Americans in the 1950s often heard this as they flew around the world protecting us. A must for the serious collector.
This movie lacks the sophistication of current movies and shows the innocence of bygone days and that is what makes it a fantastic cinematic experience. I grew up in the cold war and was a fan of the Strategic Air Command as a weapons system. It was real time showed the potentially existential threat of nuclear war. Tremendous footage of the B-36 Super Bomber which was a great show of force, but had an extremely short service life. Any movie with James Stewart and June Allyson was destined to be a Classic. I was thrilled to see there were a few copies left and being Blu-ray was the icing on the cake. I miss SAC
My first MajCom assignment was SAC back in the heady days of the Cold War. I miss SAC so much. This DVD brought back some fond memories. The movie takes place in a period before I went active duty. In my day, we had BUFF's and F-106 Deltas. Nonetheless, the movie was both captivating and quite enjoyable. Jimmy Stewart as the lead role was spot-on. I have watched this movie countless times and I can't think of an actor who could have played this role like Jimmy. An added surprise was finding this movie in BluRay.
