Shells harden with age. so newer shells will be easier to drill than ones that have been in your collection a while. but you should always advance the drill bit into the shell slowly (slow feed rate).

Brilliant quality product which provides an ideal solution for any individual wanting to convert their Dremel tool into a miniture Power Drill Stand Workstation with the ability to mount your dremel tool either horizonatlly or vertically and many other features which is ideal for any modeller or craftsman. Also ideal for those with limited space requiring the ability to pack away.

    Bendy

When you drill, the Dremel moves inside its carrier so that the hole ends up 1-2mm towards you compared to where you lined it up. The end of the Dremel that sits in the carrier is made of soft plastic to make it easier to hold, but this means that it is not held firmly. You can improve things by turning the Dremel to face sideways (there's a second slot for the locking button), but it's still not very good. It's quite well made, apart from this design flaw. One tip: it arrives in parts - remove the black end caps from the tube to assemble.

  • Excellent precision tool

I have a rotary tool (not Dremel) and saw this workstation on a well known jewellery craft tv show. It was quite a high price, so looking on eBay found one and won the bid. It is great for holding my rotary tool horizontally while polishing, and excellent for drilling precise depth of holes. The base is metal, which surprised me, I thought it would be cheaper plastic. One of my new favourite tools.

  • Good quality bit of kit, like most Dreme...

Good quality bit of kit, like most Dremel tools. Fits my old model 395 type 5 Dremel Multitool perfectly. Supplying tie downs either as part of the unit or as a separate accessory would be nice, although they give rough instructions on how to make some.

  • Surprisingly good

For starters it's obviously not a dremel product which is blatantly obvious from the photo, but in this case it has worked out for the better, firstly it is made from cast instead of plastic which inheritantly wear, bend and causes the item to loose accuracy far quicker than metals, again obvious. This Chinese product however is well made for the price and is surprisingly accurate, it is only designed for light use so it should last quite a long time. I would however recommend putting extra washers in the appropriate places.

  • A little light, but worth it

I purchased this to reduce the amount oif fine drill bit I kept snapping off while hand holding the dril, and it has done just that. The ability to ensure I am drilling everytthing at a straight angel is excellent. I am also impressed that it come with a built in suspension arm for when I attach the flexible shaft attachment. So I can hook the dril itself out of the way while using the smaller attachment for finer control. The only negative is that it is a bit top heavy, as the base is only a light aluminium and it has toppled a few times. It does have screw hole to mount it, but I do not have the space to do that.

  • An absolute must for accurate drilling of small parts, and surprisingly well built for the price.

This is surprisingly well built for the price. Although the drill press is made of metal and plastic parts, they are sturdy and durable. The unit is supported by a generously sized nicely-machined bed, with slots to take additional clamps or jigs as required. I was surprised to see adjustable tension in the vertical slides to take up any micro-slack if needed, and I like the feature that allows the drill to be rotated incrementally to different angles. The tool holder for popular bits is also very useful. Lastly, I have one of the many cheaper makes of rotary tools available, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it fits with the threaded connection on the mount (this may not be the case for yours, however).

  • Robust and well made drill press

I was a little uneasy about the likely precision of this relatively low-cost Dremel stand but was very pleased with the accuracy possible despite the number of plastic components in its construction. A bit of fine-tuning was necessary to remove a bit of 'slack' but this was easily achieved using the tiny adjustment screws. The attachment cradle didn't perfectly suit the shape of my rather elderly Dremel (Professional model) but some minor cutting of the plastic cradle allowed easier access to the spindle lock button. Screwing the stand to a plywood base overcame the tendency to be unstable particularly when the Dremel is at the top tube position or when the Dremel is being suspended from the hook for use with the flexible cable.

  • Dremel work station

Have used my pedestal drill stand several times and found it so much more comfortable in use, would reccomend anyone who has a Dremel to buy one of these ,1000 times easier and better, for very fine work, than holding by hand,so well done to Dremel. Many thanks.
