I bought this item for my rescue cat as she was waking me at 4am hungry, it is easy to set, you cannot hear the ticking of the timer unless you put it close to your ear and the lid opens slowly and quietly so not to scare cat. Don't forget to remove battery when not in use as it will keep ticking as no off switch. My cat uses it and it has solved the problem.
