I was unable to trace the model details of this 20x80 pair of Opticrons (by looking for similar specifications in field of view, objective, magnification etc) but they came with a decent (Manfrotto) tripod so I decided to take the chance. I do feel that I definitely got my money's worth here for £120. Having said this the chromatic aberration correction is not particularly good and so image sharpness suffers a little. There was also a slight colour cast evident and the image was not particularly bright. They are not bad but not brilliant either. In theory two-eyed viewing beats one-eyed viewing due to the abillity of each eye to augment the overall view, however it's quite hard to compare comparatively specialist binoculars for quality and they are rarely sold in mainstream retailers where spotting scopes, which are often lighter, predominate. I am very picky and although I think I might consider a more expensive apochromatic pair of observation binoculars I suspect that a spotting scope with a zoom might fit my requirements (including greater portability) better. Observation binoculars are either fixed eyepiece designs, rotary turreted (a choice of fixed eyepieces) or zoom - zoom binoculars are a waste of space as slight disparities between the strength in each field or in colimation make for nasty viewing and adds to the range of compromises in the optical system, rotary turret models tend to be rather expensive astronomical instruments and not great from the point of view of portability. I have no particular complaints about the sturdy tripod that came with them, it is of good quality. Personally I favour clip-held legs for speed of use (important for birdwatching) and sometimes find that I think I have secured a leg only to have it sag on me. I like heads with a single lever locking action, this one has separate locking actions for pan and tilt. Nonetheless it is a good sturdy although slightly heavy tripod.Read full review
