Grumman's F6F-5 Hellcat was the most successful fighter plane of WWII. Until this fighter was delivered to American forces the Japanese A6M5 Zero had no equal in the Pacific theatre of war. The F6F-5 was not just equal to the Zero but it dominated the "Zeke" at every battle. This kit is a reissue of the original 1963 release, and has few details available, but the kit is a good one overall. The wheels and landing gear are made to retract, and the wings are designed to fold up for storage on an aircraft carrier. There are numerous aftermarket detail sets for everything from the interior cockpit to the wheels and landing gear. It is simple but well designed and any modeler should have little trouble in creating a nice display.

It is pretty easy to put together. Just use the instructions. The bad thing about is the money. It was a lot of money

The wings do fold up & down nicely. They were engineered very well. Putty work & sanding was light. This kit came with an extra ground crew along with the pilot & a decal sheet for two different versions. The details were nice as well. It had a decal for the instrument panel. (a nice touch in my opinion) I find the gauges difficult to paint & still look realistic at this scale. The decal looks better to me. It has a movable prop, tail-hook, and tail wheel. It finished out with a wig-span of 10-3/4" & length was 8-1/4". I think these Revell kits are a hit & miss proposition, but this one is a winner for sure. It's priced low & a lot of fun. I'm glad I bought it. I hope this review was helpful
