As a professional percussionist I'm always on the lookout for something unique or unusual including things that fall in the standard percussion array of instruments. I own lots of cowbell from factory made to hand made in 3rd world countries so I want something with "flavor". I bought this as an alternative to the LP 8" cowbell which I use with my timbales. This Stagg cowbell is slightly longer but depth wise it's much narrower. It has a myriad of tones available through choices of striking implement and placement of attack - all a very good thing. It is pitched toward the high side of large cowbells which may not suit some individuals. The only thing with this bell is its "ringy - ness". I put some tape on it to curtail the ring a bit; however, it took away some of the other choice sounds that you could get from the bell. That said if you want just a straight rock cb, then this might not be the choice, but on the other hand if you want something full of different usable flavorful sounds then you might need to consider this cb. Yes I would recommend this cb.Read full review
