I was so into the ultra high end moving magnet cartridges, like the Stanton 881, and the Shure V 15‘s that I never really gave this a second thought. I guess others already knew that this was a great sounding cartridge. Even the Stanton 500 with the right stylus has a great sound, and this is really a nice balance between the 500 and the 881. The new EVG nude stylus for less than $50 cannot be beat, at least mine, but there’s nothing like the original vintage styli for these. I paid $75 for the cartridge and EEE stylus that has hundreds of hours left on it, couldn’t be happier

I assembled many turntables with these high quality cartridges as an audio technician in a pro-audio shop. Among my fellow techs, the Stanton 680 was a very nice cartdrige. Then the 681 EEE came out and that was the end of that struggle to find the perfect cartridge. To those who seek the best , they have to know how this works. It's all about clarity. the ambience that's lost in digital is not lost with this cartridge. For a younger technician who may never have seen this kind of quality it's a treat for you. To even be looking at this cartridge infers you know what it takes to appreciate it. My old triple beam DENON likes it. I have the same one there. I track at about 1/4 gram with no problems. It's a good start for a retrophile.
