Two of my favourite bands - The Rascals, and the Arctic Monkeys combine; to make one supergroup, that is the Last Shadow Puppets. Some could question whether this will actually work, and I for one was not convinced whether it would, although they are two of my favourite bands; but I was proven wrong. Their mix of orchestraic notes with hard-hitting catchy guitar riffs will make even the most depressant people bop along, and with tracks like 'Seperate and Ever Deadly' with the catchy chorus of "save me from the secateurs, I'll pretend I didn't hear can't you see I'm a ghost in the wrong coat" and the alliteration of "biting butter and crumbs" in the chorus, you can't go wrong. Alongside the ever catchy "the Age of the Understatement" being played worldwide on music video channels and many people talking about this band due to the commercialisation of that song; you can just see that this band are going to be big. From front page reviews in NME to excited fans buying tickets to the Carling weekend in August, (Reading & Leeds), you can just tell this band will be looked back on in the years to come. Henceforth I would recommend this album to anybody who is a fan of either of the two bands, or Alex Turner/Miles Kane infact, as this album is one of the best albums to come out of 2008, and this band, even if it is just a side project as they both go back to the Rascals and the Arctic Monkeys respectively; is one of the best bands to come out of the 21st Century.Read full review
