  • Cloverfield review

Told from the point of view of their video camera, the film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives. This sounds exciting but really it does not work in some places, Coverfield is a good film, although to me the whole film lacked length. The film gives you questions it does not answer. For instance where did the monster come from? We don’t get told at all or don't really understand in the case of the people who think they have seen it. The film takes a least a good half an hour to get into, explaining the various characters that you need to pretend to care about, but really you have paid cash to see the monster smash stuff up! The only thing I have to really praise was the monster, the CGI and effects which and went into it worked ...

  • Scary Monster movie with a difference.

Cloverfield is a movie made in a similar way to Blair witch project. It starts with a group of young people at a party and the whole film revolves around the video being taken there. After some time a commotion is heard (earthquake) and they are under siege by a monster that appears from the sea. The party goers have to run for their lives. Staged supposedly in Manhattan, it is a modern remake of the age old Dinosaur attack type movies with a few twists, However still very enjoyable and worth while ~ I think.

  • Cloverfield

Five young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party the night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city. Told from the point of view of their video camera. The film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives.

  • It's a mystery...

Shown as a video found in Central Park after a monster attack in what was called operation cloverfield by the military, the Darma logo from lost is shown leading many people to wonder if there are links between the 2...I couldn't see any... It's a good film, all shot on a camcorder by one of the characters, it's not something I could watch time and again as you do have to concentrate but it's definately a must see!

  • Cloverfield (DVD)

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.
