The seller provided photos of the exact device that was shipped to me. The chassis was marked up badly and had a lot of scratches and dents, but all were disclosed prior to shipment. I received a deep discount on the device cost. The shipping was speedy. However, the device did not boot, and was DOA. However, the vendor promised to reimburse the payment. Though disappointing, it was always a gamble. I’d definitely deal with the vendor again.

Cisco 877 wired router
The 877 is a stable reliable router for the home or for a small to medium size office. It provides a stable platform for internet access once its set-up. And set-up is the key. It will run without needing to be reset like cheap consumer-grade routers. Cisco products are the Energizer Bunnies of networking equipment. They just keep going and going and... The 877 connects directly to the incoming DSL phone line using the same wire that typically connects into the back of a modem. The 877 and replaces both the modem and router. Because of the built-in router feature, the 877 handles the inbound DSL signal coming in on the phone line, the line filter is still used between the 877 and the phone jack in the wall. The built-in modem converts the signal and runs it into the router ... The 877 is a stable reliable router for the home or for a small to medium size office. The built-in modem converts the signal and runs it into the router function transparently inside the router case. All self-contained in a neat package. The router is typically Cisco. Reliable and stable. Secure. Attractively styled Cisco-dark green case with a dark window for the bright green indicator lights. A little larger than consumer-grade stuff, but then its a piece of equipment that is above the ordinary. Something to proudly display. The issue with the 877 is the same as with other Cisco routers. It requires a bit of technical expertise to get working at its best. There are plenty of internet resources and expertise available to help in the set-up and to resolve problems. But Cisco does have a nice, though a bit complex, GUI set-up utility called SDM. Its a bit more complex than some of the consumer-grade router utilities, but these routers are not your run of the mill consumer-grade junk. SDM is also a great consumer alternaive to configuration management using a console and a command line interface. There's plenty of horsepower in an 877 to run at ADSL2/2+ high-speed bandwidths. Plenty of processing power to run secure firewalls and acls. SDM also has a nice router monitor that will report router CPU utilization and memory use. The built-in switch operates at10/100BaseT/TX. Might be better if it were a gigabit switch, but good gigabit switches are inexpensive in today's market. The 877 would perform very well in a small to medium office that is connected to the internet through a DSL connection. The firewall is business quality. It will provide the reliability needed in today's office environment. It would also serve as a remote office connection through its VPN capabilities. My personal experience with the router has been very favorable, though a little frustrating at first trying to get the set-up right. I used some of the resources available on the internet and resolved the set-up problems. Since then, its been a rock, completely transparent, stable. Our network runs mixed wired and wireless (via a separate wireless access point) computers with three to nine computers on line. In conclusion, the 877 is an outstanding router with a built-in ADSL modem. Meets the needs of a small to medium office or as a great home router. Get past the initial set-up and the router will perform as a smooth transparent piece of office equipment. Recommended.
