The noise level in front of the machine is around 54dB which is quiet enough to watch TV but I'm not sure about sleeping levels. The best thing is to run it in the bedroom before going to bed and use a quieter fan when going to sleep. I have bought an extension for the hose but it will reach a window without. I'm very pleased I bought this as it made the house comfortable when outside was roasting.
