The planar1 turntable is a good quality entry level hi fi turntable. It's a well made quality product that needs very little set up compared with other similar priced turntables. It's very much plug and play, you will be setup and playing records within a couple of minutes. This of course means it doesn't have as much fine adjustments available as other models, but it plays old and new vinyl well, sounds good and looks the part so it does everything it needs to for me. One slight problem with mine was the lifting mechanism wouldn't raise the arm high enough on new heavy vinyl to clear the playing surface. This was easily fixed by adjusting its height by unscrewing a screw using a 1.3 mm Allen key. (which isnt supplied). Took about 90 seconds to fix. It comes with the connecting cables and a clear plastic lid/cover which looks high quality, but be careful cleaning it because it scratches very easily. Otherwise a good quality, good looking turntable.Read full review

I've had a few turntables in the past, but this is by far the best. Really brings back the pleasure of listening to vinyl. Delicate and detailed treble, accurate rendering and reasonably extended bass (as much as my bookshelf speakers can manage). Very credible soundstage. There was an issue when it was first delivered; the plastic pulley was loose which cause awful speed slowdown after it had run for a few minutes. This may have happened during transit. A bit of research on the internet revealed it was not an uncommon problem and just needed a drop of locktite glue. Ever since then, it's been playing beautifully.

At this price, a slight seconds turntable is an absolute bargain. I would purchase at full price, its still excellent value for money at retail. Very easy to set up. Take off the protective cardboard, put the counter weight on, plug in and you're ready to go. Sounds fantastic. This is a massive step up from a second hand budget deck that it replaces. The one I purchased was described as slight seconds but I don't know why. There's one ding on the front but I can't complain at all about it. I imagine it was a refurbished unit from the manufacturer. But as they have a lifetime warranty I can't imagine that there will be any problems. If you were thinking maybe, buy it.

Always wanted a rega turntable, had this with performance pack because it had a better cartridge, I wasn't dissapointed, simple design and not much to look at, money has been spent where it matters, the arm, bearings, platter, motor etc. The sound is brilliant, play a track of Michael Jackson, the backing on his records always fantastic, and you hear - great bass, mid range and treble, the seperation of the instraments is really good, love it.

having only approx 6 hours of use the motor pully worked free of the spindle and as i was investigating this i accidentally lent on one of the rear corners and the deck toppled over ! due i,m sure to the fact that its only fitted with 3 feet ! anyway i ended up buying a new motor only to have to return it as it was faulty ! the new motor has just arrived but this to seems to be a tad grindy ! whilst working on this dwck i found it to be made of the cheapest materials possible ! very shoddy ... apart from the arm that is and to give it its due was excellent for that 6 hours of use i initially got .. most disapointed REGA !
