The film title and cover suggested to me that this would be a creepy horror movie which is why I purchased it. But it did not meet my expectations and whilst there were some interesting themes in the film I found the story to be a bit shallow and slap-stick for a basic teenage market. But I believe it did very well at the box office when it came out.
If, like me, you somehow missed this rather low-key, culty and darkly comic addition to the well-populated ranks of late 90s teen horror flicks when it first came out, don't hesitate to snap it up now on DVD at the first available opportunity. Far from being merely another by-the-numbers slashfest, this is a top-class black comedy-horror vehicle with a super-cool cast including the likes of Seth Green and Jessica Alba, all of whom play everything perfectly straight, which only serves to brilliantly highlight the sharpness and darkness of the humour within the film. The cool factor of the film is only increased by the excellent soundtrack including a great performance of Ramones classic 'I Wanna Be Sedated' by The Offspring (appropriately brought to an abrupt halt by lead singer Dexter Holland having his scalp gruesomely ripped off by the killer hand), and a very amusing cast commentary on the DVD extras. Believe me when I say this cult stoner classic is a black comedy of rare quality among American films. It's really worth owning.Read full review
i forgot how funny this film was, really entertaining and a joy to watch good use of jokes and theories of the death and the after life a classic comedy that has me laughing everytime.
