For a cheap computer build, this CPU was great value. Seller sent two, as the first one didn't arrive when expected. So I promised to return the second one when it arrived. Great coms from Alberto the seller, could not fault this transaction.

  • LGA771~775 - An Upgrade Worth Doing

I now have a fast cpu with HT and 12M of cache for a fraction of the cost of the 775 equivalent. There is nothing bad to report about the cpu, in fact quite the reverse; however, the task itself comes in two parts; the easy part is modding the cpu, a piece of tape across the correct pins and that's it! For the next part beware, not all motherboards are created equal. In order to get the most out of the cpu it is recommended that your MB's BIOS is microcoded for full compatibility with the LGA771. With some MBs this is relatively straight forward, (once you have sourced the correct microcodes for the MB), in others, it varies between difficult and can't be done. So check out the recipient MB before launching on this project. The end result is well worth a little effort on your part.

  • Good cpu for cheap systems.

This 4 core xeon was perfect for upgrading one of my builds would reccomend for a budget system with some tweaks required, works well enough to play many tripple a games however this cpu needs a fairly powerfull powersupply to power it.

  • make sure you have done your homework

Works but goes way beyond its designated temperature and until get a bigger cooler I left out, several sights contradict themselves as to what memory works best will down clock rather than up clock. make sure you have a good PSU as well.

  • Better than the real thing

Excellent solution if you cant get hold of a cheap enough Q series cpu , a bit of modding required but results are a faster cpu than the real thing
