For the price this bill hook is adequate, however having used them 50 years ago on the farm, they were thinner and consequently could be sharpened to a high standard and would chop and cut far better than this thicker and heavier bill hook. This model would be better if thinner and lighter, probably stainless steel, but then you would have to pay a much higher price by far. The bill hook arrived quickly and well was packaged. For under £9 I did not expect to get a quality item and the quality of the tool was at best mediocre when I inspected it. I was also not very sharp and needed sharpening before I could use it. It did however do the job I wanted from it and although the handle was a little loose after 1/2 an hours usage I do think it will last for several more years of light use. If you want something for occasional light use and don't mind sharpening it first then it is good value and will do the job. I would not recommend for heavy use.The bill hook arrived quickly and well was packaged. I bought the bill hook to use to coppic a row of 5, 3 year old lavender bushes. Watched you tube and out i went with the bill hook. It was easy to use and the weight was perfect for clipping, splitting and cutting the various thicknesses of sticks and branches. Before I knew it, I had been coppicing for over 2 hours, without any excessive tiredness in my wrist or arm.
