Good option to making a wooden jig yourself
This jig is a good option to making a wooden one yourself. The price is quite reasonable. Has a covenient indexing feature and cuts accurate mortises that fit the hinges perfectly. The only downside is locating the mortises along the length of the jamb/door. These measurements must be dead-on in order for the (multiple) hinges to line up exacty. The indent on the router guide is intended to hook a tape measure, which works fine for the wide jamb where you can keep the tape parrallell to the jamb but is difficult on the narrow edge of door; the tape must be angled or a block added to the end of the door for reference. Also, the indent is not laying on the work surface; it rests 1/4" or so high, so sighting a refernce mark is difficult. After struggling with this for the first door, I ...
