Synopsis
Businessman John and his wife, Jean, both experienced sailors, decided the time was right to give their four children a taste of life on the high seas. This book tells how their dream trip began on Long Island Sound and ended almost two years later as a nightmare in treacherous waters off a remote atoll in French Polynesia.

I ordered this item on Apr 7, 2025 and the ETA was 4/10-4/16/25. On 4/18 I contacted the seller through eBay and requested they cancel the order if it had not been shipped yet. I never heard back from this seller but the item did arrive on Apr 23. Also the item was listed as "Staff Hardback" but it is exactly like the same Bible I ordered for my grandchildren, and paid half as much. Book was in perfect condition, however.

  • Good, compelling ship-wreck story

Very compelling story. The main author (the wife) does an excellent job jumping between the now (a sailboat wreck) and the past (how they got there). It struck a chord with me because I had sailed the same route (Tahiti to Tonga) a decade earlier. She made a few errors of technical facts but overall it was a good read.

  • A must read!

I read this book, cover to cover in a weekend. The content is fascinating and it is written such a clever way that I did not want to put the book down.

  • Incredible true story.

This is a very, very good book. What this family experiences is incredible and they emerge stronger for what they lived through. This is a must read.
