I've owned a few of these since it's introduction for EOS film cameras in the late 1980s, purchased and resold on ebay and never had a bad one. It's a study lens, built in Japan with the benefit of F4 throughout the range. Auto-focus is moderately fast and once you've got used to it, the push-pull zoom is intuitive and convenient. The high ISO capabilities of contemporary sensors means that the absence of Optical Stabilization isn't the pain it was back in days of film. In summary, the lens is a relatively low weight and low cost medium zoom with great image quality for full-frame and APC cameras (equivalent to 112-320mm on Canon APC (EF-S) bodies). Given their build quality, they typically sell for bargain prices on ebay and I've used my latest one successfully with manual zoom via an e-mount converter on a Sony A7ii with some great results too.Read full review

A well built lens and works with my recently purchased Canon 30D. Old equipment but does the the job at a good price. If just starting out and learning don't spend a fortune. Obviously you need a bit of luck but most owners take good care of their equipment.

I've been using this lens for 2 month. But I can say, that it's sharp lense, not very heavy, of trumpet type. It converts to 112-336 mm lens with cropped cameras. This lens can compete with it's L-variant. I'm happy that I've bought this lens.
