The item was fine and as described but the seller doesn’t respond. I paid for usps priority shipping but it shipped via usps ground advantage. No response from the seller. Overall rating as positive since the item arrived and was fine, but communication could be much better.

Unit did well powering a 220V audio receiver appliance from 110V AC.

The AC voltage converter is very massive and heavy unit, containing a large transformer, as it is capable of high power. One must first set the Incoming AC voltage at your wall plug with the jumper mechanism in the back of the unit. I needed to set 110V for the US supply. The front of the unit has 2 outputs to choose from. I needed the 220V for a high power European model audio receiver. The unit has worked very nicely during my week of testing. The unit can get warm as expected, so it should be placed where it's heat will not cause problems.

    works great but smells!

The only reason I am not giving this product five stars is because it has such a strong chemical/paint odor that it literally made whatever room I put it in smell like it. The smell has finally dissipated for the most part except for when I turn it on. I really wish they would use a non-toxic sealer so we wouldn't have to breathe in the unpleasant/toxic fumes this thing seems to give off

  • Works well so far

Very inexpensive item. I don't even see a brand name on it. It isn't high quality necessarily, but the casing seems tough and sturdy. I've only used it twice to run a foot bath made in Germany (Max power 400W), and it worked well. The switch lights up when it is on and it didn't seem to overheat at all. As long as it continues to perform this way, I'd say this is a great, basic voltage converter.

  • Very nice, has extra fuses!

This worked for an old computer I have, which needs 220V/240V. The output plugs accept the standard grounded NEMA plug on either the 110V output or 240V output plugs, which is nice as I was able to use a NEMA IEC cable without building one. It's not too smelly as some people have said. Just a gentle hum when being used. I happened to blow an old capacitor on the computer, which in-turn blew the transformer fuse. Luckily the transformer came with extra fuses! Thank you for a great, affordable product!

  • Consider heavier fuse.

The stock fuse it comes installed with is too smaller capacity for a 500 watts transformer. I did not bother to check the amperage ratings of the fuses but every time I put on a 40 watts pure resistive load, it blew out. If it really can handle 500 watts on a 110 volts input I would use a 4 amps thermal fuse. But other than that it looks okay. I still gave it a five star because of the built and size that looks like it should be able to handle at least 300 watts without getting too hot. I did not try to put on a 500 watts load because nobody is going to use it for that kind of load. Since my purpose was to use it on step up mode for a 40 watts 220 volts flat iron, I replaced the stock fuse with an aftermarket 1 amp slow blow that solved my problem, but not all the customers are going to ...
