  • Appalling viewing experience

I'm clearly in the minority on this, but the annoying hand-held camera and the unrelenting nastiness of ths programme make it such that I doubt that I will watch everything: I bought the complete run. It has been compared to the classic Yes, Minister and other comedies, but in those, there were many genuine comedic moments that 'invited' you to laugh with rather that at the characters, all of which were well-nuanced. Incessant swearing, non-involving dialogue/'plots' and total lack of sympathetic characters take this far from the sphere of comedy or even satire - it may be a bit too realistic to come within those arenas, but that does not make it compelling viewing for what it is said to be, even at the bargain-basement price I paid. • What if all politicians were ridiculous and/or inept human beings? What if?

I bought this as a present for my father who loves to follow the ins and outs of Parliament. He's not really a man who watches TV shows (or films for that matter) and despises fictional books for some reason... Anyway, he absolutely loved this, watching the entire of the first series in one evening. Malcolm Tucker is like a linguistic genius that uses his powers only to verbally assault and intimidate... and that's pretty much the show. Don't let that put you off though, he's one of the best characters ever on TV. In the negative column a lot of the subtlety can be missed if you're not familiar with the particulars of British parliament.

  • True to political life or what?

This show is fast paced, witty, clever, insultingly funny. Probably a truer reflection of Westminster life than the politicians would like to admit. I have bought this pack for my husband, it is one of the few programs that we enjoy together. At least he stays awake for this one.

  • A mixture of Yes Minister and The Office

Brilliant show with so many quotable lines but also so believeable. The main draw has to be Malcolm Tucker, the director of communications with his rants throughout the series.
