About this product

Product Information

The eight-on-eight, fast-paced twist on American football makes its Xbox debut courtesy of veteran publisher Electronic Arts. In addition to the official rules of the sport, the teams and players of the AFL, and the distinctive indoor venues, the game includes a number of features to help distinguish it from the company's Madden NFL series. Players can learn the game's quirky rules with optional onscreen visual cues that illustrate each player's role on offense or defense. Arena Football offers a slightly different atmosphere than in traditional sports games, with crowded indoor arenas abuzz with fireworks, rock music, cheering fans, and other activity. A new analog kicking system lets players attempt field goals from anywhere on the field, since each arena spans half the size of an NFL gridiron.

Another notable feature is the ability to take control of the wide receiver and either follow diagrammed routes or instantly create custom routes. Health plays a more important role in Arena Football than in other pigskin games, because six of the eight featured team members are actively involved on both offense and defense. Arena Football lets players monitor each athlete's physical prowess throughout the game with a real-time telemetry system. The telemetry feature not only lets players know when a team member should be substituted, but also the condition, scoring history, and offensive tendencies of their opponent. Arena Football includes support for custom teams and players as would-be managers guide their squad through a complete season or in Xbox Live matches against friends.

    Good game

My son likes it, he loves his original XBOX even though he has a Playstation 4 so we have to come to eBay to buy these games. He really enjoys it.

    Strangely good

Fun game. Not got the complexity of a Madden or NCAA. Great for someone to learn Sim football before progressing onto the aforementioned games and much better than the next installment of 07. All in all fun, different but strangely addictive.

  • A good first effort.

As a follower of the sport for more than 15 years, this is a game I have waited on for a long, long time. The wait was almost worth it. Overall it's a good game -- though there are some things missing. Gameplay is good, graphics are on par with the rest of the 2006 sports titles, and the high scoring action of the AFL has been captured pretty well. But there is evidence the game was rushed a bit. Missing is play-by-play announcers for the games, custom stadiums and fields, and other small touches. For example, the Kansas City Brigade appears without a mascot name in the game. The team creation is much like what is found in Madden, though field and stadium customization is very lacking. There should be an option for square or rounded endzones -- and there is not. Endzone art is not ...

  • AFL Game Is A Hit !!!!!

The AFL game put out by EA Sports is a great game!! The graphics are great, and the overall game play is fantastic! All the teams are included, and are accmopanied by the real players, unlike the college games. You can play single games or even a season with your favorite team. Your profile keeps track of your game-play stats. If you are new to the AFL game and you play the familiar Madden franchise, no need to worry as the controls of the game are just the same! I give this game a perfect 5/5! Highly Reccomended!

  • Great game for the indoor fan!

As an arena football fan I love this game! Being I'm "only" a PC gamer I had to go out and buy an xBox just to get the privilege to play and it was worth every penny. This game focusing on the unique aspects of indoor football is great to those of of us that appreciate and understand why this isn't the NFL. Stadium football fans should enjoy it enough to gain knowledge about the AFL as well. However, die hard Madden heads aren't going to like it much and will bash on what they don't understand. It's rare to find something original in a sports game so enjoy it while you can!
