    Old business switch - great for hi-fi. 8 shared ports not gigabit though.

    Pros: -Bizarrely, it genuinely makes streamed music played on my Hi Fi sound better than my previous tplink unmanaged 5 port switch. -Can get cheap 3rd part sfp modules (like gtek) to run multimode LC fiber straight in to the switch without a separately powered converter (like a tp link mc200). Cons: -Big & Ugly -Tricky. You need to buy a console cable, download Putty and spend time googling how to factory reset it then adjust the ports (like accepting 3rd party sfp modules). -the input is gigabit but the 8ports are only 10/100 speed. This has reduced write speed to my NAS from 90mbs to only 10mbs. Overall you can't get a better switch to improve the way your streaming sounds for the price. For general gigabit ethernet, just get a cheap, small unmanaged switch.
