The most successful series of professional soccer video games find a new home in the virtual arenas of the GameCube, featuring refined play and new features. FIFA 2002 offers players greater liberty in passing and tackles while remaining true to gameplay conventions refined over several generations of the title. The new open passing system calls for accuracy but allows much more freedom in ball placement. Similarly, tackles must be properly timed and well aligned for a good steal, as poorly executed moves risk a card from the ref. As in past editions, this release features the real professional players from over 75 teams in 16 different leagues, including the English Premier League, the French LNF, and the United States' MLS. Games are called by veteran commentator John Motson and respected analyst Andy Gray.

Some vain improvements
The game has a big graphical improvement over the previous installment, FIFA Soccer 2001, giving a more realistic look and feel to the franchise. The replay feature is stunning as well. The new features in the game aren't exactly that new, and most of the time it gives away the play pattern. I am not impressed with the new perfect passing moves, either. This game is too easy, let's put it this way. The AI that you will face will sometimes be so simple that you can easily score into the double-digits without paying much attention. On my first twenty minutes of play, I was easily scoring from midfield due to the new "charge and shoot" feature. The goalie AI, your opponent's AI, and even your own team's AI is severely dumbed down - most of the time, you can map out a play and have your ... Overall, this game is nothing more than another rehash by Sega at an already stale game system. If you are looking for something innovative, this game is not for you.

title fit the game
i bought this game about a month ago. i purchased it replace one that had gotten broken. both my children play soccer so in the off season it like being on the field to them even when there not. the only compliant i have is they could make it more life like other games where you can really see the players clear.but all in all we love the game

I bought this game for my son. I am not really into video ga,es. But I have watched my som play. The graphics are good, interaction is good andit pretty entertaining. My son (7 yrs) enjoys the game and works well.
