Originally, my aluminum door had no lock. I needed a privacy lock for a water pump room to make it inaccessible to various grounds crew members. I installed this in less than 5 minutes with a screw driver and pliers. A pliers or vice grip may be needed shorten the tab to fit your door. The tab has grooves that make shortening the tab easy by simply gripping with a pliers and bending back and forth until the metal fatigues and breaks. Alternately, the tab could shortened by cutting with a tin snips or hack saw. Keep in mind that any aluminum door is not "secure" in the sense of keeping out determined intruders. Regardless, this is a great value and works great as intended and I would definitely buy again and recommend!
