After seeing this series on TV, I wanted to have a copy to share with friends. I like Science fiction, mysteries and fantasy. This is a mixture of all three, maybe light on the science end. The characters are interesting as well as their interactions. The plot is original and not spoiled with a lot of bad language, sex or unnecessary violence. It is a serious story but has occasional well placed moments of comedy relief. As a viewer you learn about the plot as if you were the lead character. Once you learn things about the scenario and how it relates to the plot you start anticipating what is going to happen but are sometimes surprised. If they made a TV series on this theme with comparably quality I would definitely watch it. You can watch this story casually but the “key” to getting the most out of it is paying attention to details.Read full review
The plot of this movie is incredible. I found myself looking at things differently after I watched it. It got into my head and gave me the weirdest dreams! Imagine that you found an item which suddenly gave you an ability you didn't have before. You might not realize it being due to the possession of this new object right away, but sooner or later it dawns on you that you only have this ability while wearing that ring or when holding that business card. What if you found out there were other objects out there which looked like normal items, but had similar 'powers'. Would you go nuts looking for them, or just forget about it? That is the type of thing religions are based on. Holy relics and objects supposed to have mystical powers. Then come the relic hunters looking for others like it. Then the supreme object is discovered which ties all the other objects together. That is when life gets interesting. I'm not great at writing reviews, but I can say that this was probably the coolest plot to a scifi series EVER. I was really hoping it would turn into a regular weekly series or spin off into something else. Nobody knows how many objects were in the room, so each episode could lead somewhere else. The end has a twist that nobody will expect and it sets it up for a sequel. That sequel is supposed to be in comic book form in Fall '11, so keep an eye out for that. I'll be honest... the acting isn't stellar. Joe seems to like pulling his gun out a lot I noticed. he still seems like whatever his character was on Six Feet Under. The guy isn't terribly versatile as an actor, but man did he fall into an awesome movie. Forget the acting and focus on the theme of what is going on. It is pretty amazing. It is more than your typical "I'm just trying to get my family out of harm's way" movie. This is an intense scifi thriller that doesn't have aliens or laser guns. Just a key to a room that doesn't exist and a mystery never fully explained. If that doesn't keep you on the edge of your seat, then nothing will!Read full review
This show broke new ground for a television series in my estimation, because it gave a plausible storyline about a rift in the time space continuum that hasn't been adequately addressed in over 40 years, when an episode of the original Twilight Zone, starring Charles Aidman touched upon this same subject. I was reminded in a way of a personal wormhole that not only allowed a person to travel through space, but also through time, which is really a cool concept. Not to mention the significance of the "objects" in the Lost Room and the powers they bestowed upon the persons who possessed them in the third dimension. Peter Krause, Juliana Margulies, Kevin Pollack and the supporting cast do a great job of making this all sound believeable and the ending leaves hope that future shows about the Lost Room may be forthcoming.Read full review

When SciFi was blasting promo after promo of this show from TV to the sides of city buses, I thought it was going to be another SciFi Original Piece of cr@p, but within the first half hour, I was hooked. I watched the entire series on my DVR in a row and had to call out sick from work. Awesome premise and the perfect cast for each role. If I have to find one fault, is that the ending was left wide open -- too open. They could have made a full season out of this, maybe more. Either way, get it. I was surprised they didn't have this in my OnDemand list.
The Key to the (now non-existent) Room #10 of the Sunshine Motel (and it can open any door with a key) can any take it's wielder to anyplace on earth. There are 100 objects just like the key, each with a different power or ability of it's own. Then there is the room itself--that exists, yet is not there. Their are cults searching for the objects too. Joe Miller- Police detective has the key. His daughter is lost in the lost room and he must find her before the key is taken from him by a myriad of antagonists. IMDB rates this Mini-series 8.4 out of a possible ten. As good as the Twilight Zones best. A great movie that should have been made into a series. It would have been really hard to keep the quality of scripts and FX every week.It ranks with the best that has been on the Sci-Fi Channel. Definitely something a Sci-Fi and Fantsy buff should check out.Read full review
The Lost Room miniseries centers around a collection of seemingly ordinary objects that originated in a mysterious hotel room. Each of the objects gives the holder unusual powers that defy the laws of physics. Some are useful some are not, such as a pencil that produces a penny each time you tap it. The first object revealed in the first episode is a key with powers to transport the user anywhere they can visualize, but with some dangerous possible side effects. This is a refreshingly imaginative Sci Fi adventure with numerous thrills and surprises. Well worth watching more than once I recommend purchasing this DVD.
The Lost Room, SyFy Channel's best mini-series to date, is like a return to the good old Twilight Zone TV Show. Lost Room is a must-see for TZ and Outer Limits fans as well. The premise is that there are these objects located all over the world, a hundred in all, ordinary every day objects - a pen, a wallet, a photo, etc., that all have very strange powers. People have killed each other over these objects for years, in order to possess their powers. The thing that ties them all together is this hotel room that only exists in another dimension. Sounds weird, but its a well written and acted series. Get the DVD today, you won't be disappointed.

If you missed this 2006 SciFi Channel mini-series you should give it a closer look. It is a cross between a detective story and SciFi. Peter Krause gives a great performance as a policeman who loses his young daughter in a mysterious room and has to find an assortment of objects with special powers to try and find her again. Fast paced....well written...beautifully acted...it will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat. The hardest part will be stopping after just one episode.
