About this product

Product Information

Robert Altman's irreverent darkly comic tale of life in a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War stars Donald Sutherland, Tom Skerritt and Elliott Gould. Though set in the early 50s, the film is clearly a satirical protest at the VIetnam war, which had peaked a couple of years earlier with the Tet Offensive, but wouldn't finish for another five years. The plot concerns the various shenanigans of the Army's medical staff and their determination to get one over on all figures of authority. It was partially scripted, partially extemporised, in what would become a trademark of the director's filmmaking. Also starring Robert Duvall and Sally Kellerman.
