Product Information
Documentary about American defector Comrade Joe. In 1962, a US soldier sent to guard the peace in South Korea deserted his unit, walked across a fortified area and defected to the Cold War enemy, the communist state of North Korea. He became a star of the propaganda machine but then disappeared from view, later finding fame acting as an evil American in North Korean films. He has now lived there for twice as long as he has in America, uses Korean as his language and has three sons from two wives.
