When two brothers, Hank (Bill Paxton) and Jacob (Billy Bob Thornton), and their friend Lou (Brent Briscoe), find 4.4 million dollars inside a crashed plane, they believe they've found the financial answer to all their problems. All they have to do is keep it a secret until the plane is discovered and any investigations are completed. This proves to be easier said than done, however, when the three men (as well as Hank's wife, Sarah, played by Bridget Fonda), each with their different reasons, begin to lose trust in the others. When an FBI agent comes to town, the tension becomes explosive resulting in deceit and, ultimately, murder. Raimi makes brilliant use of icy Minnesota locales. Thornton's performance was recognised by the Academy with a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The script, by Scott B. Smith from his own novel, was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay.

A Simple Plan - Book or Film ?
I enjoy a read at bed time and recently purchased a couple of cheap paperbacks.....one of which was A Simple Plan. Having finished the book I was curious about how the film would compare and found a well priced DVD on Ebay. Turns out this was a bit of a classic film when it was released. Very enjoyable film but it did deviate from the book towards the end and made me think it would be interesting if somebody re-made this classic but stuck more closely to the original story.I enjoy a read at bed time and recently purchased a couple of cheap paperbacks.....one of which was A Simple Plan. An excellent 90 minutes viewing
I bought this dvd as i remember watching it a long time ago.I liked the story line to it,and the acting was very good.It was a very good thriller,well worth watching.I compare it very highly along with other products i have bought in the past,i am very pleased with my purchase. C.Thomas.

A must see gripping psychological thriller
I decided to convert most of my film collection to dvds as my tapes were deteriorating with age and the dvds would take up much less space. I thought I would see if I could find the films on ebay as it would save me time. This film is an excellent gripping psychological thriller which explores how friendships and relationships change when faced with a dilemma of what to do when a large money is discovered. Should they keep it or give it back. As the plot unfolds their friendships are really put to the test and you can see how they misunderstood and over-estimated the value of their friendships. Of course this all leads to murder but it has a lovely messsage at the end that love and friendship and family are much more important than greed and money. However unfortunately the dvd was ...
