- "Mortal Kombat: Armageddon" is the final chapter in the original "Mortal Kombat" story. While it features almost every fighter from the previous console games, it also introduces new characters. In the main story, known as Konquest mode, armageddon is approaching. The realms are beginning to collapse around each other. The Nintendo story casts you in the role of Taven. In this script, he is the only one who can stop his evil brother Daegon from destroying the universe. This story will take you across all of the realms. You will also interact with over 60 "Mortal Kombat" characters. Ed Boon, the creator of the original game, once again takes over as head designer. The Story mode will take most gamers over 20 hours to finish. Once the story is over, the real fun is just beginning for continued enjoyment. Outside of Story mode, "Mortal Kombat: Armageddon" features an array of additional modes. These modes include Arcade, Vs., and Survival. Two fighters will go head-to-head in "Kombat, First Time Ever," and only one will be left standing. "Armageddon" is a fighting game with gameplay similar to past games in the franchise. Fighters will punch, kick, uppercut, and throw their opponents. Each successful hit lowers an opponent's life bar. When your opponent's life bar is empty, you will win the match.Each fighter also has a unique array of special moves to use. For example, Sub-Zero can freeze an opponent, while Scorpion can impale someone with a spear. Each fighter has two fighting styles, either hand-to-hand or weapon-based combat. At the end of a match, you can perform a fatality on your opponent. Unlike past games, all fighters now share the same fatalities. Instead of memorizing strings of button presses, players can now chain together moves to make fatalities. This new system makes the game easier for novices to jump in and start playing. "Mortal Kombat: Armageddon" features a huge cast of fighters. There are 63 total combatants for you to play as. Every character from the previous games are here. Classic fighters like Kano, Raiden, and Sonya are all prepared for battle. Newer characters such as Frost, Blaze, and Kobra are also present. The Nintendo Wii version of this title also features an exclusive character known as Khameleon. True to her name, Khameleon has special features while also sharing moves with other female fighters. This Nintendo Wii title also features over 25 interesting stages on which to battle. Not only does this Nintendo title include an array of stages from the franchise's past, but it also has brand-new ones. The fatality system isn't the only new feature "Armageddon" has over previous "Mortal Kombat" games. This Wii game lets players create their own fighter for the first time in the series. Players can choose from a variety of looks and moves to create the perfect fighter. The Motor Kombat minigame lets you take a break from the intense action. This minigame has the fighters racing in karts instead of pummeling each other to a pulp.

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is a pretty good game. It has EVERY single Mortal Kombat fighter in the entire series to fight as, so that's pretty cool. But the fighters only have one fighting style and a lot of the fighting styles are crappy. They look and fight like idiots or even children. The costumes are ok, but the secret fighters you can play as pretty sweet. The graphics are as good as you can get on the PS2 or original XBOX. The story is really good though. The Konquest mode is really cool. It isn't like Depetion where it was just a training exercise with a story. This you actually beat up and kill bad guys and learn new moves and magic. Plus the Wii version introduces Khameleon, a super awesome female ninja that looks really cool and has a good backstory. Another flaw is the when you finish the game. When you beat the final kombatant, your ending is just your fighter is standing there fighting with no one while an announcer tells what happened when you beat the final boss. It's pretty lame. All in all, great game for the hardcore Mortal Kombat fans. The Wii remote does make fighting fun, but not as easy as a regular control which you can use if you like.Read full review

Good game
Mortal Kombat Armageddon is a fun game to play and the Wii version does a nice job with new control system. At first I was hesitating to try this game for wii becaause of the way the controls might affect it, I had the Xbox version but sold it and decided to try the Wii version. Well to say I wasn't dissappointed. The controls are fun once you get used to them which won't take long. The game itself is typical Mortal Kombat fighting which might get boring after a while playing by yourself, but this game is way better playing with other people, It's a shame it doesn't have online capabilities or else this game's replay value would be alot higher. This game also introduces kreate-a-fighter mode which will have you experimenting with different styles of fighting and different looks for a while. Another new feature is Motor Kombat which is like a Mario Kart styled racing game which is a nice fun feature to play around with for a while. Also returning is Konquest mode which has some issues but none the less will add some more entertainment to an already packed game. All in all Mortal Kombat Armageddon is a definate must for Wii fighting games and in case ya dont like the controls you can always connect a Gamecube controller or a Wii classic controller. Its showing it's age, but Mortal Kombat is still fun.
I'll start off with one major problem for this game - because all of the special moves have been assigned a motion-control, there's no sense of accomplishment for pulling off a particularly tricky move; they're all rather easy to do once you've gotten used to the movement patterns. This problem is even worse for fatalities. In past games, every character had a unique set of finishing moves that served as a kind of "bonus-round" at the end of a match - there was a unique challenge in pulling off one of these moves in the five seconds given at the end of the match. Now, all characters share the same generic mutilations at the end of each match - the customizability is fun, but doesn't match the perverse pleasures derived from the special finishers from past games. Moreover - you can no longer perform "other" finishers like Friendships (it's a fun way to end a match), Mercies, Animalities... essentially, the Fatality of MK:A is analogous to the Brutalities of past games, only less impressive. That's not to say it's all bad, or even mostly bad. The character roster is great, and there's a lot of fan-service for long-time players. I do miss all of the great hidden/unlockable characters from past-games (there was a special sense of pride when using such a character against your friends) - and though they're all there right from the get-go, it's just not the same. Still, there's always a new character to try out if your current one just isn't working for you. The range of martial arts styles available is just too cool - I was particularly pleased about the inclusion of Vale Tudo and Jeet Kune Do styles. The create-a-fighter mode is a little overrated in my opinion - at least in regards to designing your fighter's appearance. There just aren't enough options, even after everything is unlocked. Still, it's possible to work within these limits to create decent characters, though after experimenting with it for a while I still tend to go with the stock fighters, especially since you can only save one custom fighter per profile. I can't imagine playing this on either of the original platforms it launched on - this version has the most fighters, most extras, and best graphics - even the special motion controls are fun and engaging more often than not. The Mortal Kombat series is certainly showing it's age now, but it's still fun to play, even if only for the nostalgia.Read full review

Mortal Kombat:Armageddon on Wii, 2007
I should give my background first, I haven't played Mortal Kombat since the early 1990s on sega. So when I ordered this one I wasn't sure what to expect on a new game system 12 yrs later. I think it is neat, there's lot of player choices and they have several different moves each. It even has more depending on whether you have your weapons out or not. It has traning on it to show you have to use the remote for the game AND how to make all the players do their moves. There is lessons you can take to practice each players moves, it is only about 6 of them BUT if you hit another button it gives you a choice to see their moves list. In there you can see all that players moves and the buttons to make it happen. I will say I have had difficulty getting the fatality to work for me; however I am NOT a big gamer so that is probably not saying much. My son does love it though it does have alot of blood and fatality moves contain the expected head ripping etc. Overall, I recommend the game! I personally like it alot.Read full review

Fun Game
The Wii controls were a little dissopionting. Very hard to do fatalities. The controls were hard to learn. It took me about 25 minuites to figure out how to punch and kick and all that stuff. Game is reccommended, you need to look up, how to do fatalities on the internet, or else you will have a hard time playing the game. This game has alot of fighting, which makes it really really fun. There are many characters in Mortal Kombat Armageddon, which is a good thing. Theres also MORTOR Kombat, which is some kind of racing thing. One of my faviorte things is the Kreate-a-fighter mode, it it awesome. I managed to do a couple of fatalities, the fatalities are awesome, if only I knew how to do them by Heart. The game is not to expensive, around $30 dollers. The instruction manual was ok, wasn't ver informative. So, overall Mortal Kombat Armageddon is awesome, I hope they make another one soon. A Little less than I expected
Well, yet another game in the Mortal Kombat Franchise.. same type of moves, with a few new features which i will describe. the pros: *many different characters to choose from. *new moves such as mid-air combos and diverse dodging including laying flat on the ground and rolling away. *Kreate a karacter lets you have your own person in the game. *many cool levels to choose from..oh excuse me.. *kool* levels *krypt is much easier to navigate *wii controls integrated heavily *fatalities are custom, do you pull out the heart and then punch off the head? or vice versa? your choice *although gore is less, the new part is some blood does splash on the screen *kool story behind this game, it could have more to it but it is still kool none-the-less the cons: *low graphics, less graphics than PS2 versions *very few unlockables and unlockables are very uninteresting *moves still very unrealistic, with the tossing in the air with the flick of a wrist and the like. *konquest is very one-dimentional as far as i have been through it and seems quite boring. (hidden treasure is about as hidden as Willie Nelson being a weed addict) *all karacters seem to be molded from 1 male model and 1 female model..aside from moloch and the other large karacters. the bad thing is they all look the same, so the many karacters seem more like 5 total *fatalities get more lame with each new game. not as bloody or intricate as before *wii controls too heavily integrated, they are very hard to get correct, my advice is to just use a classic or gamecube controller and do it the old-fashion way I don't think they should end the mortal kombat games, but i think they should take a turn in a slightly new direction. take a look at how popular the call of duty games are..its because they are easy to use, many different weapons, many explosions and the only thing they are missing is more gore. Mortal Kombat should have slower and more realistic kombat. instead of tossing them in the air with every other move, make combos where you start out on the ground doing many light moves..slowly knocking them backwards and then eventually knocking them straight away from you with a strong kick or hit or weapon-change strike. when you hit someone straight..they go back..not up or down. and weapons should do more damage and make you much more easy to damage as well. and I dont think they should do away with the gore, i think it should be heavier..it can be done with more realistic kombat..it just takes work to put it together.Read full review

MK Makes Killer Komeback...
After playing every game in the MK arsenal, this was by far my favourite -- two reasons -- 1) it involves a huge variety of characters and that makes you playing more versatile, and stops the game from becoming as repetitive as its predecessors. 2) The Wii controls are badass! No more just sitting there mashing buttons -- adds a HUGE playability twist that you can't get anywhere else! Of course, the visuals take a big hit, not being able to make the 1080 mark, but it's still tons of fun. You hard-core gamers are probably gonna want to rent this, but I think it's a great addition to my Wii-game rack!

Take it from a True MK Fan - This is the one you want!
I want to start off by saying I started with Mortal Kombat back in the day. When it was in the arcade - I spent many an allowance feeding that machine. I've played every version of the game since and this is the best one since UMK3. So Many cool features. First and for most the characters - i don't know the exact number, but if you can think of a past MK player they are here. In addition to this they have a really neat design your own fighter mode. With this it's not just same lame customizable character but it goes beyond - you can actually decide the moves available!! Of course you do have to have the koins... Brings me to my next point - similar to the previous two games the krypt is back and so are the koins. This time though there isn't a coin for every color in the rainbow - one standard Koin making unlockables much more accessible. Also extremely cool you all the art and other bs you don't want to pay to unlock is already unlocked from the get go. Unlockables include things like alternate costumes for the fighters. Another really neat addition is Motor Kombat. That's right - just like Mario Kart but with MK players!! They even have their special moves (IE Scorpion uses his rope to spear you and pulls your player back to his position while slinging him up to yours!). I did find Motor Kombat was the quickest way to get koins - and what a blast it is! Now they did take it down from 2 fighting styles and a weapon to 1 fighting style and a weapon. I think they probably did this to conserve space as there were so many characters but i don't think it takes away from the game at all and I'd rather have the extra fighters. Also I'd be remiss if i didn't touch base on Konquest. I haven't beaten it yet but I can tell you it feels a lot less monotonous then the previous Konquests in the series, and i'm really digging the story line. All in all this game is incredible - the Wii controls are a really neat bonus that I think anyone can adapt to pretty quickly and it's totally worth your time.Read full review

Awesmazing!
This is a fun game. Those of you that have played 1st person shooters, racing, and fight games can appreciate this has it all. there is a Konquest mode where you go through a quest like a shooter. There's an arena type where you fight characters or try to battle your way through as a single player. Plus there's a racing aspect where you can be your favorite character and unlock tracks and racers. It's pretty cool. As a matter of fact, each section is tied to the others so you can unlock things by playing the different parts of the game. not to mention my son, whose name just so happens to be Raiden, absolutely loves it!

Mortal Kombat--Mortal as Ever.
Mortal Kombat has always been one of my favorite fighting games of all time. The over the top fighting, the deep commentator voices, and the insane characters is what drove me in to begin with. This game is no exception. The formula is still the same but with added flair of course. The amount of characters to choose from is insane! The game content is tremendous as well. The are many modes to choose from including Motor Kombat,Kreate a Kombatant,The Krypt,Konquest, and the classic Arcade mode. This is definitely a must get for any Mortal Kombat fan.
