Hierfur geht der Autor auf das Konzept, die Grundidee sowie die Vor- und Nachteile von Dropshipping ein. Des Weiteren wird die Rolle von Shopify analysiert. Im Anschluss werden anhand eines exemplarischen Unternehmens die Unterschiede zwischen Dropshipping und anderen Formen des E-Commerce herausgearbeitet. Die Technologie hinterlasst in fast allen Bereichen unserer heutigen Gesellschaft ihre Spuren. Besonders im Handel gab es in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten grosse Veranderungen. Die Notwendigkeit der direkten Interaktion zwischen Kaufer und Anbieter ist mit dem Aufkommen des elektronischen Handels und der Entwicklung von Plattformen fur elektronische Markte nahezu ganzlich uberflussig geworden. Um die Aufmerksamkeit der Kaufer zu gewinnen, wird das Kaufverhalten durch Datenverarbeitungsalgorithmen analysiert. Dabei werden die fur die Geschaftsstrategie des Unternehmens erforderlichen Geschaftsinformationen herausgefiltert. Mit Big Data und Data-Mining wird das Profil eines jeden Konsumenten direkt in die Plattform projiziert und so die notwendigen Informationen zur Vorhersage des Verhaltens bei zukunftigen Plattformbesuchen ubermittelt. Diese Analysetechniken macht sich auch das Dropshipping zunutze. Durch Dropshipping koennen Unternehmer mit geringem Eigenkapital und wenig Vorbereitungszeit bereits ein eigenes Business aufbauen.
