The silk didn't look or feel like any silk, the back was soft because it's cotton knit. I worked with it in a gentle bath laundry with Woolite and fabric softener as well and an air dry in our huge dryer. It now looks and feels like silk and will be a pretty enough piece when my cleaners has ironed it a bit gently.
