NEW IN 2007! MOSIAC-PIECES OF JEWISH MUSIC IN NEW ORIGINAL SETTINGS On Lisa's first solo Jewish CD "MOSAIC", Lisa has written, with several other award winning songwriters, new settings of liturgical music as well as some original pieces on Jewish themes. Her beautiful voice is complimented by a team of masterful studio musicians to express Lisa's lifelong musical journey. Encompassing a variety of styles from evocative old world melodies to acoustic country/folk to contemporary pop, MOSAIC is a collection of pieces to be enjoyed by all ages. Here's what people are saying about Lisa and MOSAIC: 'Truly one of the most sensitive, stunning and inspiring voices in Jewish music. As for her gorgeous music... an unforgettable rendition of 'Sim Shalom' and a completely original 'Hineini' that is absolutely one of the most powerful Jewish songs I have EVER heard. I am honored to lead Shabbat services by her side.' MICHAEL HUNTER OCHS OF GESHER 'This wonderful collection shines with the energy of lots of folks with incredible track records who lend their talents to support Lisa's collection of modern Jewish Pop material. Their wisdom, combined with Lisa's own greatness and wisdom, provides a wealth of listening. I recommend 'Hineini', when everyone comes together in a perfectly written, gut wrenchingly well-performed musical moment that wesinger/songwriters always strive towards, but rarely, if ever, achieve. BETH SASS, SINGER/SONGWRITER/JEWISH MUSIC EDUCATOR 'We are all familiar with Isaiah's words: Shiru Ladonai Shir Chadash-- Sing Unto God a New Song.' Lisa Silver has taken that prophetic injunction to heart and in her lyrical voice and soul-filled melodies, she brings our traditional liturgy to a new and vibrant life. The Jewish music world is blessed that this gifted singer-songwriter has transferred her popular music talent and experience to the world of the synagogue. The very young and the many not-so-young will all find spiritual uplift and joy in her music as we have in Nashville for these many years.' RABBI KEN KANTER, DIRECTOR OF THE RABBINIC SCHOOL, HEBREW UNION COLLEGE Here are some comments from Lisa: 'My musical journey began when I was a young girl in Detroit. I grew up in a Jewish neighborhood, in a culturally Jewish but not particularly observant household. One of my strongest musical influences was my dad, a musicteacher and professional synagogue music director and singer in many congregations in Metropolitan Detroit. I have very fond memories of our family seders, with my dad leading the singing. Our home was filled with lots of music, from Mozart to Motown, Brahms to the Beatles, the Great Cantors to the Girl Groups. My brother introduced me to folk, blues, and jazz. I was captivated by the variety, playing violin in school and community orchestras and attempting to learn folk guitar and trying to play bass on the bottom two strings of an electric guitar in a garage band. Somehow I knew that music would be the biggest part of my life. At age 17, just out of high school, I became a professional musician, in a group of strolling violins, playing at conventions, country clubs, and more than a few Bar Mitzvahs and Jewish weddings. In 1972, I packed one suitcase and my violin, and set out for the Country Music scene in Nashville, TN. I began as a fiddle player, then became a background singer, and ultimately, became a published songwriter on the famed Music Row. As the decade rolled into the 1980's, I still felt connected closely to music, but not very connected to Jewish music. As journeys often do, however, mine looped back around and led me back into the world of Jewish music. In the mid-1990's, I had a child of my own to raise, and a need to once again be involved in a Jewish community. When I joined the newest Nashville Jewish temple, Congregation Micah, the greatest surprise to me was just how much Jewish music had changed during my hiatus. It took a little getting used to, but it wasn't long before the
