    Pepin is a top rated French chef and has organized his book "Essential Pepin : More than 700 All Time Favorites From My Life in Food" to be user friendly for any cook, even a beginner. He has a CD included with so much information on cooking techniques. It is hard to find a good French cookbook , this one is excellent.

    This is a beautifully illustrated volume of recipes, with easy to follow recipes. Plenty of interesting choices for any occasion!

    I bought a new copy of this cook book, "Essential Pepin," a couple of years ago for my husband and didn't use it, so sold it to a used book store, mistake, so wanted to replace it with another one.

    The Essential Pepin is more than essential

    Jacques Pepin is one of the great chefs of the world. This book, based on his TV series, with 700 recipes is not as detailed as Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking", but the recipes have sufficient details to make a successful dish. The accompanying DVD covers the basics of cooking from how to tie and apron, to making chocolate cups, to killing a live lobster. Pepin in this cookbook is not a French purist but includes fusion dishes like Peking-style chicken and African-style chicken. It is a good addition to one's library.

    Extraordinary Cookbook

    My favorite cookbook of all time. I have over 100 cookbooks. This is marvelous. Every recipe is so easy to make and so rewarding to serve and share. People think I am a superior cook, but it is Jacques!! His recipes have greatly enhanced my families happiness.
