"After Kant's great synthesis of the rationalist and empiricist traditionstoward the end of the 18th century, the subsequent development ofwestern philosophy was characterized--and somewhat scarred--by aradical and divisive bifurcation into two quite divergent traditions: theso-called 'analytic' tradition, whose center of gravity was in the Englishspeaking world, and a 'Continental' tradition, whose homeland was onthe continent of Europe, particularly in France and Germany. It is asingular virtue of The Norton Anthology of Western Philosophy: After Kantto acknowledge this schism by producing two large volumes of readings, one on each of the traditions, as the two halves of a single story, which itencompasses. In some contexts it makes good sense to follow the preceptof Yogi Berra: 'When you come to a fork in the road, take it!'"Richard Schacht's volume on the philosophic tradition that developedafter Kant on the continent of Europe, which he prefers to call 'theinterpretive tradition,' is remarkable in its comprehensiveness. It includessubstantial and carefully selected readings from pretty much all of thestrands of thought that make up this tradition. I believe it is destinedto become a standard source book for all of those who want to becomeacquainted with this rich and varied body of philosophic thought.", ""After Kant's great synthesis of the rationalist and empiricist traditionstoward the end of the 18th century, the subsequent development ofwestern philosophy was characterized--and somewhat scarred--by aradical and divisive bifurcation into two quite divergent traditions: theso-called 'analytic' tradition, whose center of gravity was in the Englishspeaking world, and a 'Continental' tradition, whose homeland was onthe continent of Europe, particularly in France and Germany. Its contents, along with the editor's introductions, allow the reader to follow different paths through its extraordinarily rich material and makes every path taken a dazzling intellectual adventure. It is a book that one will take up again and again and always leave it more knowledgeable--and perhaps a little more wise.

Wow, hard to find one this mint. A very collectable and hard to find Heroes of Bear Creek. A great price on this item ( check other listings). Fantastic communication with seller on a picture of spine that was sent to me (within a minutes I was looking at the picture). Heroes was protected in plastic, wrapped twice in bubble-wrap, boarded and in a box. So quick on shipping "lightning" was left behind. Pictures and response to question excellent. "Golden Buzzer sell", no doubt. Thanks for book.
