    Singer Special Discs last and last

    These iconic "top hat" cams,or Special Discs, seem to last forever. Although they are over 50 years old they remain in like-new condition. I believe they are made of a Bakelite type plastic. They can be used in many Singer Models, including 401A, 403A, 500A, 503A, 600 and others. These are the 3 hole style, versus the 4 hole style that came along later with the 700 model. Singer made a total of 22 of these, with disc 22 more hard to find. Using a disc like these and adjusting stitch width and stitch length you can make several patterns of specialty stitches. Combine those patterns along borders, edges and quilting squares enables you almost unlimited creativity. If you have a Singer Machine Model that uses these Special discs you should give them a try.
