About this product

Product Information

This epic chronicle of Christ begins with the arrangements of the wedding between Joseph and Mary, proceeds through Jesus' birth, his encounter with John the Baptist, and all the way to the grueling, transfigurative end. The all-star cast includes Anne Bancroft, Laurence Olivier, Michael York, James Mason, Rod Steiger, and Robert Powell as Jesus. As the beautiful locations, superb performances, and reverent portrayals reveal, Franco Zeffirelli (OTELLO, HAMLET) directed this six-hour-plus television miniseries with palpable passion.

Additional Information
Because director Franco Zeffirelli noted publicly that he intended to depict Jesus Christ as a human being rather than a religious icon, his expensive made-for-TV miniseries JESUS OF NAZARETH fell victim to protestors long before its 1977 debut. Despite the pullout of several sponsors, JESUS OF NAZARETH was aired as scheduled, sweeping the ratings in the process. In avoiding the usual overproduced Hollywood approach to the Gospels, Zeffirelli offers one of the most sensitive and reverent portrayals of Jesus ever seen on film.<BR>In the title role, Robert Powell heads a huge international cast, which includes Olivia Hussey as Mary, Peter Ustinov as Herod the Great, Christopher Plummer as Herod Antipas, Michael York as John the Baptist, Donald Pleasence as Melchior, James Earl Jones as Balthazar, Ian McShane as Judas, Anne Bancroft as Mary Magdalene, Rod Steiger as Pontius Pilate, James Mason as Joseph of Arimathea, Laurence Olivier as Nicodemus, and Ernest Borgnine as the Centurion. Filmed in England, Tunisia, and Morocco, JESUS OF NAZARETH was scripted by Zeffirelli, Anthony Burgess, and Suso Cecchi D'Amico.

Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon's 1994 Mogador production of the rock opera Starmania CD starring Bruno Pelletier, Luce Dufault, and Patsy Gallant, received in new and sealed condition, very quickly despatched and delivered. Seller boxed the CD as requested for safe delivery. Good photos and descriptions in the listing. Thank you so much for the recording of the best production of Starmania. Highly recommendable seller.

The disc arrived exactly as described. The seller very kindly issued me a full refund, postage included. That was very decent because I had told them that I wasn't sure if the mistake was my own, or due to a listing error. It's a video disc, therefore, I couldn't use it on my CD only player. I'm very impressed with this seller having purchased other CDs from them with complete satisfaction. I will definitely continue to buy CDs from OUNZ. A top 5 star seller many thanks.

  • A great peaceful man

It is an ensemble piece of actors playing characters who suit the actors’ perspectives. I bought the DVD because Jesus is a saviour on Earth and the son of God and because it is a drama piece, I wonder if my drama coach likes it.

  • Jesus of Nazareth video. AS I said above, very, very good

I think it is the best film on the Life of Jesus ever made. It takes the stories of the Gospels and introduces them into situations that are not exactly when the Bible said they happened but into situations which exactly bring out their full meaning, as for example the story of the prodigal son is told by Jesus in this film at the home of Matthew,(which probably was not the case originally), yet that causes Peter to confess that he is like the older brother of the parable. (Very, very good). Also Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus are shown, while Jesus is being crucified, as saying things which bring out the meaning of the Cross (again, very good) The price of the video is now is very very cheap. Thank you for that! The delivery was very very quick. Thank you for that too!

  • Excellent viewing with brilliant acting

Value for money which tells the history of the life of christ.Acting is superb by all the cast. No faults to be found. Not seen a better actor than Robert Powell as christ since the series was first aired on tv in the 1980s.

  • Great 😁

It's not accurate, compared to proper movies of the Gospel done these days, but beautifully done. Great series. Great cast and It's of our Lord of the living God. Our King of Kings😀✝️💪
