The package of the parcel is great, prevent item from damage. For the knife, it is a little bit too light for the length and thickness, with very good original sharpness. The line for between the core steel and layer steel is not as beautiful as many other knifes. However, the blade is very easy to rust, so more care need to take and there is some strange smell for the wooden handle. It is a good knife at this price, but maybe better for those who have experience on japanese gyuto, because the blade is very thin and hard, easy to chip.

Read full review

I wish I could attach a photo of my knife. I didn't buy it from this shop but I assure the buyers of its nice quality for the money. It is Shiro 1 steel by Takefu (not to be mistaken as shirogami 1 by hitachi steel) clad in soft stainless steel... So yes, it has a carbon edge that takes a very sharp edge. It will rust if left wet; it is not a defect- but a property of carbon steel. I just want to give justice to the one who rated down this product. I use this knife as a large paring than a mini Gyuto in a fast paced, high volume kitchen. It is a nice sidekick to my 270mm Masamoto gyuto.

It arrived very sharp, but quickly lost some of its sharpness. Even then it is still very sharp and seems to retain its current sharpness. The knife feels very comfortable to use, its simply a good feeling to cut with it (and it is very lightweight). It obliterates carrots and cucumber, I can use it very quickly when cutting vegetables (it is its strong point, I guess). I tested it on thick jerkies (was good at making very thin slices, but since it is thin, had a harder time finding a grip, requires a bit more pressure, than people might be used to), veggies (was just plain awesome), and even bread (suprisingly awesome again).
