Good value for money
Simple construction and limited fixing points means the guard feels a little bit "wobbly" when put together. Some of the side hinges (simple bent metal clasps) had become forced open during transport and had to be squeezed back together to make a secure fit. However, overall it seems more than strong enough to keep small children safe from a fire, especially when it is fastened back to the wall. I also found the nuts and bolts were of poor quality, and it was very easy to strip the threads when tightening them. I've decided to replace these with decent-quality ones from Robert Dyas or Wilko. Fit for purpose
When you put it together, the whole thing needs to be lifted to put coal on fire. I have adjusted it with my own parts, so I can fold Top back to put coal on fire. Other than that, it was quick delivery and looks fine. Only gave 3 stars because I had to get couple different parts for it.

Good guard for the price
Its good because its adjustable and you can fit it to the length you want. I didn't want to spend a lot on a guard as I needed it only for Christmas day when my 18 month old grandson was visiting. I put the 'top' pieces down the side to make it a bit longer and secured it with plastic tags. I didn't want to make holes in the wall to secure it so didn't use the attachments provided. I had a trial run and the guard did not get hot when the fire was burning so that is an advantage.
