A Simple Fix For A Common BMW Z3 Problem
This is the second mirror repair kit I’ve bought, I wouldn’t have bought a second one if the first wasn’t very good quality! These repair kits are an easy fix for the all-too-common BMW Z3 door mirror fault. The hardest part for me is getting the mirror glass back in place! X8R have an online video to show you how to dismantle & reassemble the mirror, which I found really helpful. The sensible option.
I am really pleased with this product. In the time I have owned my z3, the mirrors have never folded in, owing to the standard corrosion issue. After considering the options, I brought the X8r replacement. It represented excellent value for money; at under £95 it cost less than half the price of the bmw replacement part. In addition, the way it is finished means that, whilst you can paint it if you wish, you do not have to. My z3 is black, and the black plastic of the spindle base looks perfectly at home sandwiched between the rubber foot and colour coded body of the mirror. Also as the advert states, this one will never suffer from the corrosion of the oem part. I did find that I had to adapt the fitment method slightly from the technique mentioned in the tutorial. Brilliant product, does what it says on the tin.
So it’s well known that the side mirrors on the Z3 corrode. I was unfortunately one of the subjects to this disaster last month where my driver side mirror snapped off. With a replacement mirror around £250, plus labour required to fit it, all seemed lost. This product was very easy to fit myself, and was relatively well priced. I wish it was a little cheaper, but the company have seen a gap in the market for this product and priced it competitively as compared to what you can get elsewhere. Would recommend, wish it was less expensive.So it’s well known that the side mirrors on the Z3 corrode. Perfect fix
I purchased the passenger side and drivers wing mirrors for my bmw z3 after finding the originals had the common fault of the cast metal snapping over age and weather.. Straight swap over and you get 2 new shinny bolts to bolt in on as original will be a nasty and rusty looking.. The whole unit comes black so you can paint the paint to match your body work if you wish, my original mirrors had silver bottoms but I decided to leave them black as I liked it once they were on.. BMW Z3 Door mirror replacements.
Excellent quality. Better than OE as they will not corrode and snap. Easy to fit. The hardest part is re fitting the door cards. Great descriptive online instructions too. I bought two, and fitted them both in a morning. The base can be painted or left black. I left mine black and they look great as they are. All OE parts line up and fit perfectly with no issues. A great product.
