I easily connected the new control module and audio cable and now the volume and bass controls are working perfectly. This is a huge improvement over the OEM control that began to glitch after several years of use. I also tested the front headphone jack and the new volume control works with that as well. I would highly recommend this solution as an upgrade to the Z-2300 computer speakers.
