Generally when you spend over a couple of thousand dollars for a steel watch, you should get a lot of for that money and most times what you get a lot of is cache and not much more. Certainly a very thin automatic watch is a cache item. But this watch offers some subtle extra value. Yes it is thin - well under 8 mm and has a manufacture movement from Zenith. It competes with watches from Piaget first and foremost as well as JLC and those watches are much more expensive. What surprises me about this watch are it's legibility and comfort. It is thin but not crazy Concord Delirium thin. It feels substantial and the 40 mm diameter is just right on my 7.25" wrist. The black Roman numerals, silver dauphin hands and small sub-dial at 9 o'clock add a bit of formality but there is just enough contrast to make it easy to read. Dress watches are often nearly impossible to read if the light is now just right. The strap is not so supple out of the box but it is alligator and has a very nice soft suede lining. It is a 20/16 so you will have to hunt a bit to find a strap to replace it if you want to use the original buckle but the greater taper give it a more formal appearance. Overall this is a great watch for someone who wants a dressy, thin automatic watch (not quartz) that has a high mech movement and impeccable finishing and styling.....and you don't want to part with several thousand dollars.Read full review
