I've been using these for about half a year now and let me tell you that because of these, I can never casually listen to music again wearing earbuds. The difference in sound quality is uncanny compared to anything else that I've tried. For example, I've tried the Bose AE2 headphones for a few weeks more for comfort, however I had always felt that sound quality was just lacking in crispness and clearness, and the sound was not FULL, rather dissonant. I mention this because these headphones surpass the sound quality on every level of those. Full sound, non-booming bass, and the perfect balance of frequencies. They are ridiculously comfortable and the around-ear feeling blocks a lot of outside noise out when listening to music, so you could say that they imitate noise-cancelling headphones. The white colour is gorgeous and does not cause the phones to get as dirty as you think they would. The cord is also very strong and durable. I would not like to say that these are meant for wearing outside, for example, walking, running, as they are big and heavy duty, but if you're one of those people who walks around all day with big headphones on, then go for it. These look awesome. The ONLY PROBLEM with these was when I first got them. There is a great deal of squeaking from the hinges when you turn your head even slightly, eat, or walk around with them (every step you take causes a squeak or noise), however, after AVID USE of them, it went away, or at least I think it did, because I do not notice it anymore. So if you happen to get annoyed by your headphones making noise, I would advise that you get a different model of Audio Technica headphones, because it will drive you insane with frustration. But the sound is what really counts, and the comfort, and I must say that these are more than excellent for listening to my classical, rock, and jazz music. I am very impressed with the quality that Audio Technica puts into their products, and after extensive use of these phones, I must say that I am very satisfied with the purchase. One thing that I'd fix is the creaking in the headphones, I'm not sure how. Perhaps it was only the model that I have, because I first tried these in the black version and I never heard any creaking.Read full review
I'm a singer songwriter. And. After a while I decided to learn how to produce my own songs. I was searching the internet for most popular equipment used out there in recording studios. As for the headphones. I was looking for professional studio monitor headphones to make a reference to what I hear on my monitor speakers. But also headphones that I could record my vocals with. And. It's all true what Audio Technica says about their ATH-M50!Very clear and accurate sound. No accentuation of the highs or mids or the lows. Just the truth. You can really rely on them. They won't lie to you:)Especially because they got a pretty wide frequency response 15-28K kHz compared to other headphones I checked. Also, they give a great isolation while I record my vocals, soft and comfy earcups. My studio session takes 4-5 hours. No ear irritation with these headphones. But I would not recommend to record guitars while wearing these. The white version has a coiled cord,so it's pretty short. But for a good reason. The cord has a copper aluminum wire inside. The shorter, the less information getting lost on the way. And for their price, these headphones are worth it double buying:::::)))Read full review
The Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones are a great portable, travel, or DJ headphone because of their closed-back design and high sensitivity rating (99 dB). They are extremely durable and have a very high-quality construction. I would liken their build quality and feel to Sony or Shure headphones. Although, these don't utilize noise-cancelling technology, they still drown out the majority of external noise, and don't distort the sound as much as noise-cancelling headphones. These headphones are perfect for DJs or 'bassheads' as they're able to cancel out a lot of ambient sound and have a really strong bass signature. Additionally, the cable only comes out of one side so it is designed for DJ use. The only downside to these is that they don't have the highest sound quality in regards to accuracy of sound stage, especially the highs (treble). Although, these have better sound stage than bass-heavy Sony headphones (e.g. MDR-V6, XB500), they aren't quite on par to Shure SRH940 or Denon AH-D2000 -- however, they are significantly less expensive and still are enjoyable for the listener. If you have discriminating taste regarding the upper tonal ends, I would recommend the Shure SRH840/SRH940 in the ~$200 price range or Denon AH-D2000 if you want a more refined overall sound that still has good bass-emphasis.Read full review
These headphones are exactly what I was looking for. I have a project studio and I needed something that would accurately produce what my near field monitors do. These headphones give me a nice representation of what I'm mixing plus I don't keep everyone else up with my near field monitors blasting away. One of the things I like, that has nothing to do with performance, is the option of having white headphones. To me that was very cool because most other headphones come in the black variety. I own four pairs of AKG K44 and they don't even come close. I realized how muffled they sounded because they would cut the mids and high mids a lot.
These over the ear cans are amazing I was looking into headphones...thought about the beats i was reading reviews about the beat and mostly everyone was saying the beats were garbage They compared these headphones (m50) to the beats studios and said the m50s were better So I bought them and...satisfaction :DDD Sum of my friends have the beats solos but Idk n one who has the studios so far...so I can't really do my own test jus yet...btw these cost less than half of the beats studio...that's a plus I would most diff recommend these head phones to n one
