Very fun to hit irons, without a huge head! They are no blade by any means, but they have some characteristics that make them perfect for mid handicappers like myself. They get the ball up very fast, and it stays there, I mean really stays there for a good long while. I would say they are probably a half club longer than my Mizuno MP30's and 2 clubs longer than the MP32's I had. When you can't get out like you used to, or in the winter, these babies are just the ticket....they let you work the ball, hit it high and soft, and straight. I have heard people say you can't really hit knock down shots with them into the wind, but that is really a shaft thing, I am changing the stock KBS to the FST Pro 115 and I think they will be perfect then, because my only complaint is the ball flight is high, very high, I mean you can knock down shots, but not as easily as if there were a little more back bone in the shaft. If you are a 10 or so handi like me, I would give 'em a try, once you get past the head size, they really do play like a player's iron, only less feel obviously.Read full review
These are very nice clubs. The stiff graphite shafts are outstanding and the club head is very forgiving on off center hits. I have had to adjust my club selection ---- for example... I used to hit a 6 iron 170 yards, now with these R9's I hit a 7 iron about 168 ---- according to skycaddie point to point tracking. Anyway, I have always played with Callaway clubs and while I don't have anything bad to say about them, I just feel like I play better golf with these new R9's. So for me, The Taylormade R9 irons with the Fujikura stiff graphite shafts are highly recommended. Hope this helps! David in Texas
bought item because of the price and i was looking for new set of irons. when i recieved them ibook the irons to a driving range and hit 2 buckets of balls. the face of the 4 and 5 iron caved in and i could not get any distance with any of the irons. took irons to golf galaxy and their salesman said they were fake (knock offs). The shafts were different, heads are not the right metal, ferrells are different type. trying to get refund from seller through paypal. i would not have bought if seller had mentioned they were fake. how can ebay prevent this from happening. this is the worst experience i have ever had and now i am very sceptical about your products.
Best Taylormade iron for the medium handicap player, even a lower cap could play them. Very forgiving and accurate with length. Soft feel off of the club face, no harsh feedback on off center hits. I have had 4 sets of these in regular and stiff in steel and the graphite just for fun. Very durable finish if you keep them clean and iron covers on them, they will wear far better than standard chrome finishes as the irons have a matte finish to reduce glare. They hold their value well, don't rely on PGA value guide when you sell these clubs use the Ebay recommended value on the listing guide and add a few percent. Buy'em, play'em and then sell them on Ebay it is a fun hobby.
Great looking clubs with an awesome feel. Perfect clubs for the weekend golfer and amateur alike. Today was my first round out with these clubs. I'm not a pro by any stretch of the imagination but I can keep up when I keep my head down... I Just received these Taylormade R9's on Friday and didn't have a chance to take them to the range for any practice. I used them today for the first time in a round of 18 on one of the hardest courses in the area, and shot the best round of my season. I'm very impressed with these clubs!! I especially like the weight and feel of them. Perfect for powering through thick rough and great on the fairway. I can't wait until next weekend to use them again! This is the best purchase I've made in a long time.
