Low budget movie so I am rating on a curve. “Nightmare Man” is about a woman who has nightmares. She thinks she’s being stalked by a demon. Her husband thinks she’s nuts and wants to dump her in an insane asylum. Of course, he couldn’t pick an asylum that was down the road so they proceed to drive into the deep dark woods to find it. Oh no! Their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. He decides he’s had enough of her babbling and ditches his hot wife on the side of the road. This man has clearly not watched many horror movies. So naturally the Nightmare Man manifests himself and charges after his favorite victim. She makes a run for it and ends up at a house with four other people. It’s going to be a long night as the Nightmare Man wants to get inside the house and rip and tear his way through everyone in it. “Nightmare Man” is a solid B-rate movie. The pacing is tight, the effects are good, and the acting is on par, if not a little above, usual B-standards. It drags a little at the beginning when the wife, (Blythe Metz), is stuck in the car with her Nightmare Man but once she makes a dash for it and heads to Tiffany Shepis’s house, the movie keeps rolling. Loved Tiffany Shepis. Speaking of Tiffany Shepis,You gotta' see her holding a crossbow while stripped down to their black laced underwear? We must thank the director for having the foresight to include it in this movie. There’s another good scene where Metz is covered in blood. She’s in her underwear as well. Shepis and Metz also both have topless scenes. My God man. You can’t ask for more than that. Tiffany Shepis made the movie. Buy on Ebay between $5 and $10 'including' S&H and it's a good deal.Read full review
This movie is what it is. A lower budget horror flick that gives way to some cheesey moments. The villain (a masked demon/man) is clumsy in his pursuit making him almost comical at times. The acting is not bad, there are some witty quips and humor throughout, mostly delivered by the character Mia (Tiffany Shepis) and delivered well I might add. I found myself rooting for this tough but sexy character. Suprisingly there are also some decent suspense moments as well. I think with some better music score...the suspense could have been taken to even a higher level. I have to admit....I almost turned this movie off (as most of the cheesey moment were in the very beginning), but am glad I stuck with it. After the first 15 minutes the movie picks up. For horror buffs...the plot is predictable but yet there is an unforseen and welcomed twist in the end. This movie is definitely no Halloween....but I purchased this film thinking if it was a dud, I'd resell it. However, it was worth the purchase and I will be making it part of my horror DVD collection because sometimes you feel like Creme Brulee and sometimes you feel like jello. When you feel like jello....this movie hits the spot.Read full review
I'm kind of surprised that this movie made it to the '8 films to die for' list. I personally wouldn't have chosen it. You can tell immediately that this movie was made from the same kind of high budget as a student film is (in fact, it would not surprise me if it was a student film). I probably won't be watching this one again for a while, if at all, but depending on if you can really enjoy student films, it's worth a watch. The most impressive thing about the movie was probably the special effects make-up used on the 'devil' thing in the movie that you see in the beginning and end. The movie concept itself it okay, but like I said, I wouldn't have picked it as an '8 films to die for' movie. If you really want to add it to your '8 films to die for' movie collection as I did, I would suggest not paying more then $5 for it in total with shipping and all. If you just want to watch it, I would suggest either waiting till it's shown on T.V. (like the Syfy channel) or see if it's shown online.Read full review
For a lower budget movie, this one was very good. Non-stop action, plenty of blood and gore and gratuitous nudity. But it was clever and funny too. The scene with the character Mia standing in her underwear saying 'oh ----, I dropped my crossbow outside' was unique to say the least. Didn't like the demon's makeup it was almost laughable. Still it is a definite keeper.
This is the first horror comedy that i've seen. The acting was second rate but the women were sexy. Compared to the other "horror fest" movie that i saw called "tooth and nail", it has to be rated a distant second.
