Previously, I had been using a Dlink wireless range extender to wirelessly connect my computer and TV to main Netgear router. Eventhough my cable service offers 100Mbps, my wireless extender connection at 25Mbps max and drops to 10Mbps periodically. I read that the Netgear R6300v2 can work as a repeater; that is, I could have it 'wirelessly receive' my router signal at the 5Ghz band where there is less interference (compared to 2.4Ghz). From there, I connected my computer and my TV using an ethernet cable. The result is amazing! I am now running my computer's internet and my HDTV apps at 110Mbps with no signal drops! Would recommend! This was originally over $200 when it came out. Got it for much less than that. Great buy!

One simply cannot beat this router whether it's the OEM or the Charter version just load DD-WRT on to it. With the dual core it is far superior than the Linksys EA6100 AC1250 that we had prior. Range is better as well even for an internal antenna router. Trust me you cannot go wrong loading the custom firmware and giving this hardware a go.

This router AC1750 R6300v2 is a previous ISP router (Blue stripe/band on router front) The yellow stripe/band on front is the consumer/retail version. By going to the DD-WRT site for this router firmware version V1.0.3.6_1.0.63CH for blue stripe/band version and you can download initial flash respectively you then instal a DD-WRT flash after that, which then unlocks/jailbreaks router firmware to unleash true full potential of this wonderful router which has dual band 400 Mbps and 1350 Mbps with a guest allotted bandwidth too. Place this up as high as possible and facing the way you would want the longest reach OR buy 2 to 4 16dbi antennas and mod your router for longer omnidirectional coverage. ;-)
