Additional Information
The trials of parenthood are at the forefront of this murky horror effort that recalls 1970s child-possession hits like AUDREY ROSE ('77) and The EXORCIST ('73). Inner-city school teacher Paul (Greg Kinnear) and his wife Jessica (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) are distraught after losing their eight-year-old son David (Cameron Bright) in an accident. At the funeral, Jessica's old science professor Dr. Wells (Robert De Niro) offers them a chance to rebuild their lives: a mansion in the country near his DNA clinic, a private school teaching job for Paul, and an exact clone of their dead son. Sworn to secrecy and facing all sorts of moral issues, the grief-stricken couple accepts Wells' offer. All goes well until the new David passes the age he previously died, then comes ghostly visions of burning children, and premonitions of murder. A creepily unobtrusive score and the film's drab look help maintain a welcome low-key, character-driven mood here, with the result that GODSEND works both as a standard horror film and a darkly psychological meditation on the uncertainty, misgivings, and sheer terror involved with child rearing. Deniro is great, as usual, and the gorgeous Romijn-Stamos proves herself adept in an unglamorous, tensely dramatic change-of-pace role as the split-apart mother.

  • Godsend

When i watched Godsend, I wasnt expecting something great. After watching it for several minutes, I thought the plot was pretty good and the cast was great. But not one of DiNero's reatest. Most people say how predictable the plot is, which i do agree with, but it is soo underated. To give this film 1 star is ridiculous. Its well worth a watch. Its not fantastic but its still good.

  • Was different anyway

Won't be planning to sit through this again, it was a bit long winded for me, sort of switched on and off while watching the film, wouldn't say it was scary, just a bit disturbing of the idea of what was going on. Parents loose there son in an accident, tragic but a doctor offers them the chance to see there son again through cloning, as you can imagine things go wrong. I liked the story just think it could of been cleaned up a little, thought the acting was good, again worth a watch but I wouldn't make it on the top of your need to watch DVD list.

  • Godsend (DVD 2004)

This DVD deals with the death of a young child and subsequent cloning. The effects this has on the Parents were dealt with extremely well. Showing that there are different ways of dealing with loss, and being quite believable in how it was acted. The Film moved into the cloning aspect in quite a gentle way at a very upsetting time; but it made you feel that the parents were doing the right thing in moving and settling somewhere else, turning their back on their family in order to regain their son. It also made you stop and think; maybe cloning people isn't so far off, and is it really a good idea? There was a turn of events at the end which gave you even more to think about in respect of rights and wrongs. I decided to buy it as I had read a write up of it in a magazine, and it had ...
