    live and unplugged

    this album came out in the late 90's following her elton john duet 'true love' charting and the following best of album introducing kiki to guitarist carmello lugerri. This live record is the first of three albums they have created together, and is mostly new material and covers of songs not previously on kiki albums. Mellow takes on hits 'Amoureuse' and 'Don't Go Breaking My heart' feature (sadly no 'I've Got The Music In Me' or 'Loving and Free', even though she did play the latter during this tour), highlights include Jane Siberry's 'Calling All Angels' and an early version of 'Heal Me Now', a track that would reappear on her following studio LP but here is in a more raw (i think better) version. the bonus tracks of this 2008 reissue include the stunning kiki composition 'sugar on the ...

    The best unplugged Cd you'll hear

    By the time Kiki Dee recorded this almost live album, the title track being done in the studio, she had been in the music industry for over 30 years. Whilst she may have lost some of the edge in her voice, it still soars way above most other performers. This album reflects the multitude of styles she has done in the past. Kiki is joined by a solo guitarist, Carmelo Luggeri, who had worked previously with her on her "The Best Of" CD, two years previous. Kiki covers a wide range of material ranging from her own hits from the 70's to cover versions and Kiki and Carmelo's own compositions. The play between her voice and Carmelo's guitar is beyond words, it is simply sublime. Neither of them over powers the other, they play with and for each other.     Kiki Dee-Almost Naked Live CD 2008.

    In my opinion Kiki dee has never been given creidit for possessing one of the finest voices of any British Female Singer,and that includes icons such as Dusty Springfield,and Shirley Bassey. This Live CD is a great way to start a Kiki dee collection as it includes her two most successful singles "Dont go breaking my heart sung in a much slower,more effective way),and "Amarouse",which was a top ten hit in the late seventies. The other tracks appear to be songs she has never recorded before,or are Standards all of which she tackles brilliantly. Treat yourself to this CD and if you like it try the "Loving and Free" CD which is considered her best studio album.
