  • The Book, The Film. Both Excellent!

Well researched and written by Eric Jager, UCLA English professor, 'The Last Duel' details a 14th Century trial by Combat between a French Knight, Jean Carrouges and his former friend but betrayer Squire Jacques de Gris. I enjoyed the read and the soft cover was in excellent condition. Although I enjoyed the film by same title, the book was a gripping account of an actual crime, trial, and a couple's revenge, Thankyou Jager

  • Educating and compelling

Nice to read about a history book that is not fictional. Yes, there are pseudo-historical novels where some of the content is made up. But this is the truth. The writer made a very serious research on Carrouges, the origin of the name, what part of France the name is from. I'm very satisfied that I bought it as for what little there was about the account of that duel and about the main protagonists, the author did an amazing job.
