Perfectly sharpened tools - at a cost
As a newcomer to woodturning, I've been looking at the Sorby pro edge for some time, mainly trying to justify the cost. I didn't think I was getting the best performance out of my bowl gouges, so I gave in and bought the pro edge deluxe and they were the first tools I sharpened. Couldn't have been easier, the results were excellent, in fact they've never cut so well and I hadn't realised how correctly sharpened tools actually improve the standard of the finish. Now, all turning tools are perfectly sharpened (in my opinion), plus plane blades, chisels, kitchen knives and my Swiss Army knife - you just get carried away with this machine! Perfect edges.
As an obsessive about sharp tools I have to confess that I am spending far too much time on sharpening since I bought the ProEdge system. It is not really necessary to have tools polished to 3000 grit, but they do look good and cut so well when they are. It is easy to set-up and use. I recommend that you buy the accessories for bench chisels and a full range of grits and you'll soon be obsessed with sharp edges too.As an obsessive about sharp tools I have to confess that I am spending far too much time on sharpening since I bought the ProEdge system. As essential as the lathe, (well, almost!)
I bought this on recommendation as an aid to my developing woodturning. It is as good as I was told, perfect, repeatable sharpening, quickly and simply. I am still learning and using correctly sharpened tools make it easier to develop good techniques. Saves tools as well, restoring good edges and useful for all cutting tools. Recommended!

Really sharp tools
I have had various other sharpening systems but this is by far the best. For the first time since I started to turn wood the tools are properly sharp. And I mean sharp , what a pleasure it is to be a Turner now . I recommend this to everyone, as my normal wood chisels are now sharp enugh to shave with.
